Books on the Metro is an initiative where books are left in the metro for anyone to pickup, read, and return. Even though similar concepts exist in multiple cities across the world like New York, London, and Delhi, none of them really resonate with the city they belong to. Therefore, when we were approached for the initiative in Bengaluru, we made sure to incorporate the city's voice in the project itself.
The project takes from the 'feeling' of being Bangalorean– loud and proud. We also decided for a bi-lingual voice of English and Kannada, the major languages spoken in the city. The visual aesthetics of the brands were derived from the metro itself with the grid system being a nod to both railway tracks and bookshelves while the colour scheme was directly taken from the colours of the metro, each indicative of their respective specific metro line.
